A 2-bit Flash ADC for Pipeline Circuits

Abstract
 Design of a 2-bit flash unit for a pipeline ADC implementation is presented. The flash ADC is based on thresholding CMOS inverter comparators. The effects of temperature variations and MOS transistor corners are discussed. Presented circuits are simulated with UMC 180 nm MOS technology. Average power consumption of the ADC unit at 100 MHz input harmonic signal does not exceed 55 uW. The integrated ADC circuit occupies 0.0026 mm2 of the crystal area.
